Yahoo! Tries To Convice Shareholders By Using Adsense

April 10th, 2008 By Nicholas James

In attempt to block Microsoft’s takeover of Yahoo which is now seeming inevitable since News Corp are looking to team up with Microsoft, Yahoo has decided to run a two-week-long trial of Google’s AdSense for Search (here). However, Yahoo are eager to point out that the trial will not necessarily blossom into a long-term relationship with Google.

The trial will see Google placing ads alongside 3% of Yahoo’s search result pages in the US with the intention to “exploring strategic alternatives to maximize stockholder value” with the idea that Yahoo are attempting to convince their shareholders that a Microsoft merger isn’t the way forward even if it does mean Google taking over its advertising on its search engine.

I read about this, too bad they didn’t do a more thorough homework check before throwing this out there. I don’t know but I think the price just went down …
