The Blog Of Mark Walsh
Having won one of my contest’s earlier in the year for a review, Mark chose to have a product reviewed. However, due to time constraints earlier in the year i didn’t release the post which will be released at a later date and I also gave Mark another free review which he initially said I didn’t have to do but I said I’ve decided to so he has another site/product to be reviewed which is where his blog was chosen.
Mark is an 18 year old blogger and you can read his blog here; http://walsho.net/ its had a couple of interesting moments in the past with Tyler Cruz blogging about how his blog had a similar mascot to his but that’s all resolved now and Mark even gives Tyler some link love from his Blogroll
Generally, its a nice blog even with the “Irish Hero” tag which I’m unsure he really qualifies for yet because to gain that status your fellow countrymen and women need to regard you as this but then again the search engines don’t agree with me on this so…lets keep the slogan ;).
The design is questionable as it stretches on my browser for the ads to be shown which isn’t really good if you are advertising on the blog because, they aren’t getting displayed but then again I’m using IE currently but it seems fine on FireFox though which is a popular webmaster browser so that’s always a plus point :).
However, I would regard this blog as a personal blog rather then a business blog which most blogs are falling under these days with Mark talking personally about his upcoming exams and a few other factors like whats happening in the Irish economy for instance. I like this stance of the blog as its giving readers an insight to Mark’s personal life and giving them a sense of feeling within the community of Mark’s blog.
The only downside of the blog is the fact that the domain is on a .net which personally I don’t really like but then again webmasters know all the other extensions so this shouldn’t really affect him too much just .com’s always look much nicer
and also the amount of RSS Subscribers he has, which isn’t as great as the larger blogs (aka. Shoemoney/ProBlogger/John Chow) but again some is better then none (even this blog only has a small amount currently) and with time and continuing at the rate he is doing I’m sure that Mark’s blog will be a success based on RSS Subscribers and earnings being made off the blog ![]()
