Companies That Respond To Blogposts Get My Respect
Blogging is something which has evolved from nothing to more recent times where it is something major, just look at the Alexa rankings, RSS Readers of the major blogs (ones that are bigger then ProfitBaron currently), traffic stats (Shoemoney has published his yearly ones not that long ago…go check his blog
) and you realise that these blogs attract a large amount of visitors and readers which as a result has led to blogging becoming a nice money earner for alot of bloggers i.e. John Chow earning $30,000/month off his blog.
Which leads me onto the fact that when you make a blogpost about a company and they come and respond to it they get my respect, I’m not just saying it because Oliver George from OpenX Ltd came and commented on the blog (here) because other companies have done this previously on the blog.
The reason why they get my respect is because, an employee of the company has taken their time and consideration as a representative of the company and gave their feedback and any further updates regarding the situation. For example keeping with the OpenX blog post Oliver stated that OpenX have no further intentions to rebrand the service, that they are focusing now on creating better tools for web publishers and provided a useful link to another blog rakaz.nl whom is helped to get OpenX to where they are today and that he is now a consultant for them (here). Now you make think that this is something that isn’t really that important and to be honest I would agree because, imagine how many Google blogposts are created a day in relation to rumours etc that would take up alot of time but if they started to reply to some of them they are not only clarifying the situation (either on the blog by a simple blog comment or waiting until the story gets mentioned on a few other blogs and creating a blog post/press release stating this isn’t true etc) but also benefiting from branding too.
