Is Grammer Important For Blogging?

January 28th, 2008 By Nicholas James

Basically, this is the question on every bloggers mind’s at the moment and to be honest, I do not personally think it really matters.

Why?Well because, of the language differences throughout the internet when you look at English spelling in comparison to United States spelling you can notice significant differences. For example in England we spell centre as “centre” but in the United States its “center”. Another reason I do not think grammer/spelling is really that important for blogging is because of a study undertaken by Cambridge University:

O lny srmat poelpe can raed tihs.
I cdnuolt blveiee taht I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd waht I was rdanieg. The phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid, aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn’t mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, t he olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be in the rgh it pclae. The rset can be a taotl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe. Amzanig huh? yaeh and I awlyas tghuhot slpeling was ipmorantt! if you can raed tihs psas it on !!

As you can see, its pretty easy to read the above paragraph without any ease and along with the multi-language place we find ourselves in, I do not think its really that important. However, a little spell check after each post is appreciated by all bloggers :)
