How you can learn from n00bs?

December 9th, 2007 By Nicholas James

The thread I’m referring to is: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=559486. This guy is obviously a n00b in thinking he has killed the entire seo market!

I mean seriously the only way to kill the SEO market is to get one site ranking in the top 10 for every single keyword in all search engines. Which is virtually impossible especially since, Google etc allow only limited results of a site to show before showing the next site!

The thread itself refers to barriers to entry however, I’m not going into this in great detail since, I will discuss this on a later blog post :)

So why am I blogging about this?

Well first of all, do you know anyone so dumb to make such a stupid claim in front of thousands of members especially webmasters! If you do comment below, I don’t think I would be alone in wanting to hear a funny story ;)

Anyways…he mentions that his guide basically takes the whole SEO market out of action and makes everyone great at SEO. However, millions of people using the same great SEO methods is going to eventually cancel one and other out ;)

As well as this, he mentions that nobody else knows it but then goes on to discuss that only the big players know and use this method successfully. (My guess is he read that free 90 page seo ebook and rewrote it…thinking its going to kill the SEO market if he does).

However, when challenged to SEO a blog he refused to do so stating it will take months to show results when in actual fact it doesn’t as you can get some immediate results which a couple of members proved to him.

So what can we learn from him?

We can learn to be more realistic about our claims and actually have proof to backup what we are claiming.

This is why bloggers post images of their earnings, even though when they do people claim its photoshopped (although I’ve never seen such large amount of excellent blog photoshoppers…and if they were why didn’t they all design their own blogs ;) ) and to backup their claims since stating $200,000/month with X system without a picture is going to have people thinking your claiming false information which will ruin your branding and reputation.

As well as this, we can learn not to state “I’ve killed a killer product” and then not implement it when it was building up a massive hype, as well as, the fact not to launch a resource site asking for articles on “SEO” when he is supposedly the person who can destroy the entire SEO market.

In conclusion, if you want to build a decent brand and reputation online which will provide you with income, then do not be a n00b like this guy or you will not have good branding or reputation!
