Having noticed people were asking how to improve their Alexa rank, I decided I would collect 20 methods that you can use to boost your Alexa rank. 

Do These 20 Tips Work?

Well, according to some they definitely do work.  However, most of these tips actually do require some form of work and they will boost your alexa ranking as long as long as you are consistently performing specific actions.

Tip 1:

Install the Alexa toolbar or Firefox’s SearchStatus extension and set your blog as your homepage.

Tip 2:

Place an Alexa rank widget on your website. This is because, I have been told by some fellow webmasters that each click counts as a visit even if the toolbar is not used by the visitor.

Tip 3:

Encourage friends, family and fellow webmasters to use the Alexa toolbar as well as, site visitors/blog readers. 

Tip 4:

Get the Alexa toolbar or SS Firefox extension installed on all computers (at your work) and set your website as the homepage for all browsers :).

Note: This may work only when dynamic or different IPs are used.

Tip 5:

Get friends to review and rate your Alexa website profile.

Tip 6:

Write or Blog about Alexa due to the fact that webmasters and bloggers love to hear about ways to increase their Alexa rank and usually they’ll link to you and send you visitors who usually already have the toolbar installed :) 

Tip 7:

Show off (spam) your URL in webmaster forums.  This is because, webmasters usually have the toolbar installed and not only will you get webmasters to visit your website (improving your Alexa ranking) they will also usually offer useful feedback. 

Tip 8:

Promote your content on social networking websites and webmaster forums.

Tip 9:

Use Alexa redirects on your website URL.
Try this: http://redirect.alexa.com/redirect?www.profitbaron.com 

Note: Remember to replace profitbaron.com with the URL for your website.

Tip 10:

Post (spam) in Asian social networking websites or forums.

Tip 11:

Create a webmaster tools section on your website

This is a magnet for webmasters who will often revisit your website to gain access to the tools

Tip 12:

Exploit Social Bookmarking Sites! This usually brings massive numbers of visitors to your website and the sheer amount will have a positive impact on your Alexa Rank.

Note: You’ll need to have friends digg/stumble your content as well as having link worthy material.

Tip 13:

Use PayperClick Campaigns from services such as Adsung, Google Adsense/Adwords etc.

Note: This is even more useful when your ad is highly relevant to webmasters.

Tip 14:

Create an Alexa category on your blog and use it to include any articles or news about Alexa.

Tip 15:

Optimize your popular posts to relate to the alexa exploits i.e redirecting urls!

Tip 16:

Buy banners and links for traffic from webmaster forums and websites.

Tip 17:

Purchase forum signatures in webmaster forums and/or promote specific articles or material in your website on a regular basis.

Tip 18:

Pay Cybercafe owners to install the Alexa toolbar and set your website as the homepage for all their computers.

Tip 19:

Join social networking sites i.e Myspace, Facebook and spam inform your “friends” of your website via bulletins etc

Tip 20:

Join Alexa auto-surfs.

Personally I’m not 100% sure they will benefit sites other then brand new sites and sites with a very poor Alexa rank.

Note: Using an autosurf alongside Adsung, Adsense etc causes problems! As well as this, I don’t think this is a viable solution so I recommend that you don’t look at autosurfs as a long term solution and use it with caution.

In conclusion, it is my personal belief that you should focus on developing quality content which attracts and maintains a large audience instead of purely focusing on cheating your way to boosting your Alexa Rank. This is because, if you create link-worthy content this will in turn lead to an natural increase in site traffic and therefore increase your Alexa rank.
