Make Money By Selling Free Content!

November 27th, 2007 By Nicholas James

Having seen may people profit from this method. I’m going to tell you how to profit from the same thing, which is selling content, which is freely available online.

Remember people who buy ebook’s usually do to save time. This is because, they know that time is money.  Even if that person was pretty knowledgeable I’m sure a cleverly worded sales page can always make them wonder are they excellent at what they think they are and purchase your ebook anyways.

The fact is that you can find out all the information online, that people are selling in ebook’s. However, I don’t think that people are willing to spend time searching for things to remember what they’ve learnt previously and to learn new things. This is where you come in – you can save them time!

What you need to do is go look in related forums for the topic you want to write about, as well as, websites and blogs about the stuff your going to be writing about. Once, you’ve collected all this useful information, you need to aggregate the ebook in an accessible way, as this is what users want! This is because; if they need to remember something or learn something new then they can just look via your table of contents and read the relevant section(s). This is what the users want and what they are prepared to pay for.

A leading example of this would be the Rich Jerk ebook. I was smart enough not to purchase his ebook although, a friend did who is a leading webmaster shown me parts of his ebook (via screenshots) to show that the Rich Jerk was just rewriting the content available online in an aggregated way. This is what benefits the consumer and makes them buy your ebook! They aren’t really focused on anything else apart from content they can understand in an aggregated format.

This is how you can add a lot of value to your online business! All you need to do is become a superb aggregator of content because; if you do so then you can create ebooks/services that you can sell to the consumer :)

P.S. I know I focused mainly on ebooks in this post however, this method can be used for membership sites or any other informational site :)
