What you need to know about linkbaiting
What exactly does the term mean?
I decided that to define linkbaiting I would split the term into two words “link” and “bait” Since we know that “link” means the means of connection urls linked in series and “bait” means something used to attract something else.
Having split the term into two simple meanings based off knowledge I have come to the conclusion that ”linkbait” is where you attempt to create something that is able to catch users attention.
Having now defined “linkbait”, I have come to the conclusion that linkbaiting is an extremely useful tool due to the fact its based around viral marketing.
So linkbaiting can help your marketing campaign but also it can benefit your search engine campaign because, linkbaiting in my opinion also falls under the task of link building. Since, I Have already discussed link building in a previous blog post, I will not go into much detail on link building. However, if you haven’t already read my post about link building then I recommend you read it here.
Any linkbaiting campaign requires, what I would call ”mini public relations campaign”. Your “mini public relations campaign” should be based around the release of a “linkbait article” which would then be seen by bloggers and social bookmark users i.e. digg, stumbleupon users and once they are made aware of this “linkbait article” then can promote your article which will then gain you useful backlinks as well as traffic flooding to your website.
Remember though to have a sustainable linkbait campaign you need to have quality content.
